A bonnet pin kit is a set of threaded pins and flip-over locking clips that hold a bonnet down from the outside, used on race and rally cars as primary or secondary bonnet retention.

What’s in the box

  • 2 x threaded bonnet pins, 135 mm long, 12 mm diameter, with eyelet end
  • 2 x flip-over locking clips on a 38 mm round base plate, 86 mm long, each with a pull ring
  • 4 x nuts
  • 4 x washers
  • 6 x pop rivets

Key features

  • Fully threaded pins for height adjustment with lock nuts
  • Flip-over clip passes through the eyelet in the pin
  • Pull ring for quick opening
  • Base plates rivet to the bonnet
  • Shown in red, black and blue finishes

Typical uses

  • Race, rally and drag cars
  • Fibreglass or carbon bonnets without a factory catch
  • Secondary bonnet retention for track days

Installation notes

Mount the pins to a solid point on the radiator support or slam panel, set their height so the bonnet closes flush, then mark and cut the bonnet where they pass through. Rivet the base plates over the holes. Seal or paint any cut metal. If you remove the factory catch, check that the bonnet is held securely before driving. We can fit the kit at our Mayville workshop.
